May. 8th, 2009 05:53 amThe computer problem turned out to be a bug caused by a USB extension cord attached to the printer. Removed it, and it booted up normally. Troubleshooting is a real bear.
Whoops! And forgot to post about the first EMDR session. Quick note about the problem with being a counselor and seeing a counselor... you start talking shop in mid session sometimes. Anyway, yesterday's session wasn't too bad. She got some more history from me, including brief descriptions of the more traumatic events in question, and then had me discuss emotional safety, including the concepts of a safe place and a "container" for all the negativity.
I use an old familiar meditation to get to my safe place, which is a walled garden with all my beloved pets and lots of overgrown flowers, veggies and herbs, and my container is an old English porcelain biscuit jar filled with a hundred years of roses and buried in a safe under a granite stone in the yard and locked with a combination lock (now that I've thought of that concept, I really like it, btw). At this point, we were out of time (one hour goes by FAST). And I wasn't even breathing heavy.
