... That's how I feel right now, like my skin is too small and if I shrug *just right* and scratch where it itches, the outer, old, dead layer will peel away and leave a new me underneath.

Part of that is from the holding pattern I'm in right now, waiting for final word of a change that will mean a very different life for me. Part of it is more like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. I've been living a very internal life for a long time now, and I'm beginning to emerge.

I've made new friends in the last week, friends that are likely to be long term friends, that I can let my hair down with, laugh with, just *be* with. I've also been worrying several ideas loose from their shells.

My next sewing project (bad me, I forgot to mention the chef's apron I made for my husband as a slightly late anniversary present) will be a hoodie with a zipper front made out of a bright blue fleece which has an unfortunate tendency to pill and thus will be a comfy weekend garment rather than a work to weekend garment.

I'm still working both on my basic blue cotton socks, and on the lovely sweater in harvest gold that I've been working on all summer. My next project on the needles after that will be a scarf from the Fall 2010 Interweave Crochet that has both knit and crochet elements.  I promise I'll get pictures up sooner or later. I have a knitting group now.  More about that later.

I've discovered a lovely free open source novel writing tool called Storybook that will come in very handy when I start NaNoWriMo in November.  I have a story in mind, and I'm really excited about having the tool at my disposal while trying to organize my thoughts.

Also, for those who don't already know, I have a mouth full of metal that has me on a soft food diet  until further notice.  I've been losing weight at a prodigious pace since it has been in my mouth.  I'm not entirely sure whether that's a good thing.

Something had to give to enable this spurt of creativity, and it seems to have been my World of Warcraft game time.  I've only raided a couple of times this month, and spent one quiet afternoon doing laundry and leveling my baby mage.

Runs with Dragons has started school for the fall and so far has stayed out of trouble (cross fingers, knock on wood), and has kept up with his work (cross fingers, knock on wood).  I've really enjoyed hanging out with him while he works on his homework.  Tomorrow I"m going to trace the hoodie pattern while he does homework.

Finally, we splurged on Renaissance Festival season tickets for all of us (except Darth Nacho, who can pay for his own if he wants) this year.  Looking forward to going to Ren Fest and not being in a hurry. Have two different garb sets for this year, my Irish peasant (actually upscaled to middle class) garb and my pirate garb that is wholly unhistorical.   Will attempt to make a reproduction of the Moy Gown for next year.  Elwood will be getting garb as well  He picked up leather pants for pirate week, but we're working on a kilt and a ghillie shirt with a greatcoat for next year.

All in all, a pretty good month.
