Some Ideas on the Future of My Blogging
Jun. 23rd, 2013 10:01 amHere's some blog news for you: I'm seriously thinking of 'killing' Maureen O'Danu and using my RL name on all my blogs. Also, some time around August I will be doing a migration of Am I the Only One Dancing by putting it on a matching domain instead of http://amnottheonlyone.com. I have been told that the question/answer format of the blog name and domain is confusing rather than clever, and I can see the point.
Also, thinking I might re-split into political and non-political blogs, with Am I the Only One Dancing as a blog about work-life balance for the modern geek woman, and Walking Upstream my own progressive blend of social activism.
I would really appreciate some thoughts here. I have personally outgrown 'Maureen', but am hesitant to lose the 'brand' she has. And I know the migration to a new domain is going to come with a setback as well.
Finally, I'm determined to learn what I need to learn to speed up my websites. I'm being penalized by Google, and I can't afford a webmaster, so I'm stuck learning CSS and HTML myself. Advice would be helpful. This is all in the interest of stepping into the professional realm with my blogging. My business plan for the next year is to devote about 2/3 of my work time to my therapy practice and the rest to blogging/writing. I understand that means 60-80 hour weeks, but that's what I'm willing to do.
